We're working exclusively with the beautiful Halston hotel in Carlisle home to award winning apartments, gym, events and meeting spaces, 2 bars and restaurantsThe Halston hotel in Carlisle is THE place to sleep, eat, drink & meet in the city centre.

Its on site restaurants(open to residents and non-residents) offer something for everyone and focus on fresh, local ingredients, great coffee, cocktails and wine. These are made up of Penny Blue - serving contemporary food and drink in a stylish and relaxed setting - and Barton's Yard, the perfect dog friendly café bar in Carlisle to meet with friends over a drink or two.

The Role

We're looking for an Assistant Restaurant Manager to support oversee the daily operations of the Halston restaurants. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will provide an exceptional level of service and experience to guests, as well as providing the team with leadership support and collaborating with colleagues across the business in refining an award-winning service offering.

Responsibilities

As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will be the heart of our dining experience, leading our team with enthusiasm and expertise. Your role is not just about managing operations— it’s about storytelling. You will inspire our guests by sharing the history, craftsmanship, and flavours of our wines and dishes, ensuring they leave with more than just a great meal, but a memorable journey of taste and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage guests with passionate storytelling about our wines and menu, enhancing their dining experience.

• Train and mentor staff in the art of hospitality, ensuring they confidently recommend pairings and share the unique stories behind our selections.

• Foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere where every guest feels valued and attended to with genuine care.

• Support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring smooth service and high standards.

• Lead by example on the floor, setting the tone for attentive, personalised service.

• Assist in staff training, development, and motivation, ensuring a knowledgeable and engaged team.

• Collaborate with the team to deepen knowledge of pairings, seasonal offerings, and menu updates.

• Monitor service quality and guest feedback to continuously refine our offerings.

About You

The successful candidate will be a passionate Assistant Manager happy to oversee a team of around 12 employees as well as being operational themselves, welcoming guests into the Halston and serving guests as and where needed. This is a hands-on role where we're looking for someone with plenty of character and personality - this is about making the guest experience as memorable as possible!
